As a retiree under Malaysia My Second Home program, you can enjoy a good standard of living in Malaysia at a very reasonable cost.

Typical Cost of Living

For less than USD 2,000 (~ MYR 7,000) a month, you can live very comfortably in any part of Malaysia:
  • Renting of a fully furnished 1500 sq ft condominium = MYR 3,000
  • Monthly electricity bill = MYR 300 (with 3 air-conditioners.)
  • Monthly satellite TV bill = MYR 88 (depends on current promotion of Astro)
  • Monthly broadband internet bill = MYR 60 (the basic 384kbps combo package of Streamyx)
  • Monthly cost of renting a 4 door sedan car = MYR 1,600 (inclusive of all maintenance and other car cost)
  • Monthly petrol expenses = MYR 300 (assuming traveling of 1,200 km per month at MYR 0.25 per km)
  • Monthly expenses on food and grocery for a person = MYR 1,500 (assuming MYR 50 per day) 
Total Monthly Expenses: MYR 6848.
Alternatively, you could still live comfortably in Malaysia with a budget of MYR 3,000, as listed below:
  • Renting of a unfurnished 1000 sq ft apartment = MYR 1,000
  • Monthly electricity bill = MYR 100 (with 1 air-conditioner)
  • Monthly satellite TV bill = MYR 88 (depends on current promotion of Astro)
  • Monthly broadband internet bill = MYR 60 (the basic 384kbps combo package of Streamyx)
  • Monthly cost of using Taxi, public transport = MYR 500
  • Monthly expenses on food and grocery for a person = MYR 1,200 (assuming MYR 40 per day) 
Total Monthly Expenses: MYR 2948

Tax

Any income that you have from outside Malaysia is tax-free in Malaysia. If you required a letter of tax residency in Malaysia in order to enjoy a lower tax rate from the country you derived your income from, Aubella is able to arrange one for you at a fee. Once you are a tax-resident in Malaysia, you will only need to pay the tax for any income you have from Malaysia similarly to a Malaysian.

Healthcare

If you are currently under any particular medical condition that require a specific treatment or drugs, Aubella can research on the medical professional that will be able to cater to your needs. Aubella can also check out on the local phamaceutical supply of medication, to see whether your current prescription can be supplied at the original dosage. If you need a medical insurance to cover your hospitalisation and surgical expenses in Malaysia, Aubella is able to arrange a suitable policy for you as long as you are still below 70 years old.

Daily Assistance

Aubella has a program that caters to the daily needs of our clients, you can engage our services in:
  • Arranging electricity, telephone, broadband internet at your new residence
  • Payment of bills or uploads of mobile phone
  • Arrangement for transport
  • Referral for professional services such as tax agent, cleaning services, renovation contractor etc.

Benefits under Malaysia My Second Home program

As a retiree, you are allowed to be work part-time in Malaysia up to 20 hours a week. Please contact Aubella if you intend to apply for the permission to work.
